Our graduates are employed by a wide variety of organisations and companies, including the police service and other branches of law enforcement. Our courses also provide routes into a much wider range of graduate careers not directly associated with the police and law enforcement.
All of the science-based programmes are founded on a single underlying philosophy which underpins them - ‘to develop the problem solvers, innovators and leaders of the future’.
Our science-based degree routes are accredited or recognised by the relevant professional body or are in the process of seeking accreditation.
We offer an International Foundation Year (Science & Engineering) if you are an international student with a science and mathematics background, and may benefit from improving your English language and study skills before joining an undergraduate science or engineering degree course.

First-class facilities
Crime and Investigation is based in the School of Social Sciences & Law in the Clarendon Building which has specialist teaching facilities, an open-access computing laboratory and a student centre. The Building has an excellent range of specialist laboratories and several experimental/research rooms equipped with digital cameras and recording/playback facilities. We also have a Court Room with the latest recording and transmitting facilities and we utilise the Crime Scene House Laboratory.
If you are seeking an accredited science-based degree course then these are provided by the School of Science & Engineering and are supported by a Crime Scene House Laboratory (the most comprehensive university facility of its kind in the UK), a Digital Evidence Laboratory and a Vehicle Examination Laboratory. Further laboratories are equipped with a full range of optical microscopes, chemical analysis equipment and a DNA suite which allows us to produce DNA profiles. In addition to the above facilities, the Trading Standards and Consumer Protection Laboratory has some of the latest specialist weights and measures and testing equipment. In addition, use is made of the realistic replica court room at the University to enhance further your learning opportunities.
