Eartex / London South Bank University

Jobs E-bulletin issue no: 878/240118 Date job posted: 22 January 2018

Eartex and the London South Bank University (LSBU) have been successful in winning a government grant through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme administered and managed by Innovate UK. This has created an exciting opportunity to develop an intelligent hearing protection and enhancement system that adjusts to its environment and user requirements. The system must learn to adjust to diverse soundscapes according to user needs and preferences for effective communication and an optimised listening experience in a diverse range of acoustic environments.

The role would suit a professional or academic looking to advance his/her career by being based at a dynamic and progressive company whilst acquiring and applying specialist skills in the application of machine learning, and signal processing techniques in real world environments.

The role is a challenging application, employing artificial intelligence to a smart 'hearable' using predictive analytics to develop a machine learning platform. Applicants must be conversant with:

• Machine learning techniques to find patterns in data for building learning models to predict future events.
• Signal processing for determining the best techniques for information extraction from unconstrained acoustic environments.
• Software & system engineering for developing a modular based machine learning architecture.
