Control Engineer for Robot Development (KTP Associate)

An exciting opportunity has become available for a candidate with a postgraduate degree to take on research challenges in the application of robotics to support the railway industry and work on the development of an industrial scale prototype train cab front cleaning robot. This role will focus on the control systems design challenges of the project and will work closely with another KTP Associate who will focus on the mechanical aspects of the project.

This position forms part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. It’s essential you understand how KTP works with business and the University, and the vital role you will play if you successfully secure a KTP

The successful candidate must possess:
•Knowledge of servo systems/controller knowledge
• Knowledge of Catia and MATLAB/Simulink (or LABVIEW) will be needed.
• Experience of working on industry/university partnership projects and preparing and publishing academic papers
• Experience of working with robotics systems as well as industrial control systems (PLC)

Essential skills we require as a minimum:
• Software development skills in a language such as Java, C++, C# or Python.
• Analytical problem solving skills
• A high level of spoken and written English, as well as strong oral, visual and written communication and presentation skills

Degree subjects required: Masters level degree in control, mechanical or electrical engineering or closely related subject
Location: Derby
Type: Contract   30 month fixed term
Basis: Full Time

Salary Details: £25,000 to £35,000 per annum, based on experience,  with a £5,000 dedicated training budget tailored towards personal development.
