An elevator pitch is a short introduction to yourself and your background (30 – 60 seconds) given verbally by you to pitch your achievements and career goals to potential employers – at careers fairs, networking events and job interviews.

Networking is establishing and maintaining connections with a wide range of people who may be able to assist you in building your career. Take advantage of opportunities to network – whether socially, at recruitment fairs, employer events, or online.

When job hunting, it is important to use all avenues available to you, including networking. It is estimated that 70% of jobs are not advertised, so networking is a good way of tapping into the hidden job market.
