Why attend

The annual Careers Fair takes place in November, attracting students and graduates from a wide range of courses. Our aim is to facilitate a marketing network for employers\organisations and students and to provide an opportunity for both parties to meet in a focused, but informal setting.

  • Bookings are accepted (subject to availability) until beginning of October.
    Please note, in order to achieve a well-balanced event we monitor the range of employers requesting to attend.
  • The venue accommodates up to 50 places
  • Early booking is essential.

Cost to attend

One administration fee of £150. The fee is non-refundable.
There are no discounts.

The event starts at 10.00am and ends at 3.00pm

Venue

  • Main Hall and Sports Hall, Brittan Building for Sport and Well-being
    - the fair is held in two adjacent halls located on the centre of the university campus, and can accommodate up to 50 employers\organisations.

Administration

Your booking will include:

  • Allocation of floor space to accommodate your stand and marketing materials (approx 3m x 3m stand space plus required tables/chairs). Note, Teesside University does not supply display stands
  • Requisite tables and chairs
  • Access to a power socket (if required). Please bring an extension lead with you.
  • Access to the internet via TU_visitor guest wireless network service (if required)
    • instructions on how to access the service along with the passkey will be on your stand on arrival
    • prior to attending the careers fair, please ensure that your laptop is up to date with Microsoft patches and anti-virus software, and is fully charged.
    • Note, Teesside University does not supply laptops.
  • Allocation of one car parking space in a car park situated near to the venue
  • Tablecloths (if required)
  • Bottled water will be provided on all stands
  • Drinks only vouchers (supplied on the day)
  • Buffet lunch (held in Waterhouse Building nearby, no vouchers required)
  • Access to photocopying on the day
  • Support from members of the careers staff available throughout the day

Careers fair sponsorship opportunities

Raise the profile of your organisation - sponsor the fair. This is an exclusive opportunity for one organisation only. The price is £550.

  • choose your stand location within the Main Hall / Sports Hall
  • company logo on the front cover of the A5 careers fair guide (circa 1000 distributed)
  • full outside back cover (colour) company advertisement of the A5 careers fair guide
  • company logo on A4 posters and A6 postcards (circa 3000 distributed prior to the event)

  • company name and logo on careers fair publicity web page
  • If you wish to provide a number of your company pens we'd be happy to distribute them to students on arrival at the fair.

Booking confirmation

  • Email confirmation sent on receipt of completed booking form and summary of opportunities form
  • Invoices are issued on confirmation of booking
  • A further email will be sent to you in mid October, detailing travel directions, car parking instructions, maps, and the availability to view the floor plans - as detailed in the sections below

Regularly check the careers fair web pages to find out who else will be there and to view the floor plans prior to the event. You will also be given a copy of the floor plans and list of stands on the day

Delivering stands and materials prior to the fair

If you wish to post displays stands and materials prior to the fair contact Alexandra Wright, email a.wright@tees.ac.uk and note the instructions below

Deliveries in the preceding days before the fair

  • Items must be delivered to the address below and not the venue address. Note, the careers service does not have access to the venue until setting up the fair, and therefore, cannot take any responsibility for items going missing if they are delivered to the venue before the event.

  • Upon delivery, you will be sent an email confirming receipt. The items will be placed on your stand allocation space ready for your arrival.

  • Deliveries should arrive directly to the venue between 8.00am and 9.30am - in plenty of time prior to the start of the event
  • If you have not arrived at the fair when your items arrive, careers staff will sign for your delivery on your behalf and place your items on your stand allocation space for your attention upon arrival

Items for collection by couriers

  • If you require couriers to collect your display stand/materials at the end of the event, couriers can access the venue between 3.00pm - 4.30pm.
  • If your courier is unable to collect your display stand/materials at the end of the event, you can arrange for your items to be collected from the Careers Service, First Floor Student Centre, Teesside University, Borough Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3BX at the beginning of the following week. Please ensure your items are securely packaged and labelled with their destination address.

Car parking

  • One car park space (if requested) is reserved for your company/organisation in the Tower car park. Please note we are unable to provide additional parking spaces.
  • A car parking permit is required, and will be sent to the booking contact a week prior to the event
  • University Services staff will be on duty at the Tower car park from 8.00am to welcome you and direct you to the Main Hall and Sports Hall on your arrival
  • Unloading of equipment can be carried out in the cut at the front of the Middlesbrough Tower and side of the Main Hall. After unloading, vehicles must be parked in the Tower car park

On the day

  • Car parking - see above instructions
  • You may arrive from 8.00am onwards. We request that all exhibitors are set up by 10.00am and expect everyone to stay until the fair ends. This is so that students who have planned to attend later in the day have the same opportunity to meet with employers as those who attended earlier.
  • On your arrival at the event reception our staff will be available to assist you.
  • On your stand you will find an information pack containing:
    • postgraduate prospectus and undergraduate prospectus
    • information about the university and the services on offer to employers provided by the careers service and our university departments
    • a copy of the careers fair opportunities guide
    • floor plans
    • list of stands
    • feedback form
    • free pens
    • envelope containing drinks vouchers and instructions for lunch
    If you requested access to the wireless network service, instructions on how to access the service along with the passkey will be on your stand.
  • Refreshments and lunch:
    • drinks only vouchers (included in your pack) are for use at the Main Hall coffee stop located in the foyer of the two halls
    • employer buffet is held in the Waterhouse building, from 12.00pm until approximately 1.30pm.
      A map and instructions is included in your pack, however, staff will be available to direct you.
      The lunch period is often quite a busy time at the fair for students, so we would appreciate employer representatives stagger their lunch breaks. You may if you wish bring the food back to your stand.

  • Careers staff welcome your informal feedback throughout the event
  • Prior to your departure, we appreciate completion of our feedback form (provided in your pack on the day), the details of which will be used to improve our planning of future events.
