Health and safety committee

The health and safety committee meet twice a year to discuss agenda items such as policy updates, successes and failures, training undertaken and any other relevant issues relating to health and safety.

The committee will:

  • study accidents and occupational diseases with a view to identifying trends and reporting to management on unsafe/unhealthy conditions and practices and provide recommendations for action
  • action concerns raised by safety representatives
  • assist in developing safety policies, safety rules and systems of work
  • check on the effectiveness of safety training and communications
  • action reports and information provided by the Health and Safety Executive and provide a link, via the Health and Safety Adviser, to them
  • carry out inspections where appropriate
  • examine audits and safety inspections and monitor corrective actions.

  • Health and Well-being Co-ordinator
  • UCU representatives
  • UNISON representatives
  • SU representative.
