HR operations management team

Our HR Operations Management team provides a full HR service to all Schools and Professional Support Service Departments within the University.

The team offers a comprehensive service to all managers and staff and deals with enquiries on a range of subjects including:

  • recruitment
  • job grading
  • maternity/paternity/adoption
  • flexible working
  • contractual enquiries
  • terms and conditions of employment
  • employee Engagement
  • absence management
  • employee Relationships
  • dispute Resolution
  • resignations
  • pensions
  • retirement
  • general HR issues

The team works in two sections, each comprising an HR Business Partner, HR Adviser and HR Officer and each responsible for a specific client area encompassing a combination of Schools and Professional Support Service Departments. The HR support, advice and guidance is divided between each role in order to give a solutions focussed service that enables an effective and efficient approach to the delivery of HR at the University, as described below.

Responsible for support, advice and guidance on strategic HR matters impacting on the client area such as workforce planning, annual and long term planning, departmental restructuring, management policies and procedures, high level people management and formal casework issues, talent management, staffing implications of horizon scanning and portfolio reviews and similar requirements.

Responsible for providing support, advice and guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, informal and formal casework and sickness absence management, HR policies and procedures development and similar requirements.

Responsible for providing support, advice and guidance on routine, day to day HR matters and processes impacting on the client area such as flexible working requests, sickness absence monitoring and checks, variation to contracts completions, UKVI checks and similar requirements.
