BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences
'My experience at Teesside has been the best four years of my life.'
I decided to study at Teesside University as I'd heard the biological sciences course was varied in subjects such as cell biology and microbiology, bioprocessing and genetics, and molecular biology.
The course was ideal for me as I initially didn't know which direction to take and the modules enabled me to look into a few different areas of biology.
The lecturers were fantastic, they put me forward for honours and awards such as the Oxford University Press Biosciences Award, which I won in both my first year and final year, and I was chosen to give the valedictory address at graduation. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today.
My experience at Teesside has been the best four years of my life. The degree definitely prepared me with the knowledge and skills I need in my career. I've become more confident, made lifelong friends and developed myself both personally and professionally.
I’m now working as a cell production technologist with biopharmaceutical marketing company Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies.
My advice for anyone thinking of studying here is to work hard, ask for help if you’re unsure, get involved in social activities, take full advantage of the career services and try your hardest.
