The sports team provides top-quality facilities and professional advice for beginners and experienced competitors - don't miss out while you're here.

We have everything you need to enjoy sport at Teesside - whether you are an elite athlete competing at international level, or you just want to try a new sport, volunteer or look after your health.

The Gym

The Olympia building was recently extended with a new £2.5m health and fitness centre. Putting health and well-being at the heart of the Middlesbrough campus and University life, this attractive, high-quality facility provides state-of-the-art cardiovascular and resistance fitness and free weights fitness areas, a sprint track, multi-purpose studios, sauna and steam room and a specialist treatment area for use by students and staff.

Local amenities

Off campus you can enjoy our 60-acre Saltersgill Sports Ground (football, rugby and Gaelic football), the River Tees Water Sports Centre for rowing, canoeing and kayaking and the nearby Tees Barrage, which has a world class white water rafting course. Middlesbrough Sports Village, Billingham Forum (for Ice Skating) and the Neptune (centre for swimming).

Sports clubs

You name it - we probably do it. We support a wide range of sports clubs - everything from snow sports to volleyball.

We offer a range of participation (BeSporty project) and outdoor activities for you to enjoy whilst you are studying at Teesside. Most of the activities are on Campus during times when you have social time. The aim of the activities is to give you the best University experience possible, help you make new friends and encourage you to try something new.
