Students' Union - social space, support and new friends

It's led by students for students.

The Students' Union was awarded Gold accreditation in the 2018 Best Bar None awards for the quality of our social spaces and licensed premises and the training of staff who work in them.

Every September the Students' Union (SU) hosts a freshers' fortnight of day and evening events to welcome new and returning students. You can expect fun, freebies and essentials. You can also find out how to join clubs and societies or take part in volunteering opportunities with the SU, University and wider community.

The Terrace

Our multi-award winning modern, vibrant space for students from all backgrounds offers a great atmosphere in which to enjoy free live entertainment, unbeatable drinks promotions, a wide ranging bistro menu, first rate customer service, big screen football, pool and video games. It's the place to have fun and make friends.

The Hub

The Hub is our multi-purpose day and night venue providing space for student meetings and activities, University events and private hire through the day. By night it's one of the best venues in town for entertainment. Previous acts include Professor Green, Tinchy Stryder, Pendulum, Seann Walsh, Calvin Harris, Scott Mills, Bill Bailey, Simon Amstell, Wretch 32, Example, Katy B, Sigma, Greg James, Scott Mills, Chris Stark, S Club Party, Tinchy Stryder and Sigala. There's also hugely popular club and theme nights, live comedy from some of the top comedians on the circuit and major one-off events such as our end of term parties, the Festive Fling and Final Fling.

Students' Union Student Support (SUSS)

Our one stop shop for support and advice from professional and totally independent advisers includes help with issues around finance, housing, your course and sign posting to other services who may be able to help if our staff can't. It also includes a jobs service advertising a range of part-time vacancies in town to suit students and the service recently secured the prestigious AQS accreditation recognising excellent standards of advice for students and the top quality management of the service.

There's also incredible entertainment every night during Freshers this year including live performances from big names from the world of comedy, music and entertainment plus theme and club nights. Sports clubs

We have a massive range of sporting clubs from traditional team sports such as football, rugby and hockey through to martial arts and some activities you may have never heard of before. Many of our clubs train on campus at least once a week and you are welcome to join in regardless of experience or standard.

Societies

There is a huge spectrum of societies that cover every social aspect of life at Teesside. Be it religious, cultural, educational or just for fun we have societies that cover it all. Societies meet regularly to organise socials, meetings, guest speakers or just to hang out.
