What to do if you think you have it

If you, or someone you know, is ill and you suspect meningitis septicaemia contact a doctor immediately. Early treatment with antibiotics is vital.

Describe the symptoms carefully, mention you think it might be meningitis or septicaemia. If a doctor isn't available go straight to the nearest Accident & Emergency at hospital and insist on seeing someone. The nearest hospital is James Cook University Hospital, Marton Road, Middlesbrough, contact 01642 850850.
