Poverty in Childhood and Youth

You consider the challenges for children and young people who are growing up in poverty and the damaging effects poverty has on their social and emotional wellbeing, cognitive development, educational attainment, health, and life chances. You examine government policy and research to reflect on challenges for the future. You learn about what poverty is, what it means to grow up in poverty, the effects of poverty on early childhood development, the effects of poverty of educational attainment, long-term effects of poverty and early years policy related to poverty.

How you are assessed

You will produce a poster which demonstrated your knowledge and understanding of the effects of growing up in poverty in educational aspirations, attainment and life chances. You will be given tutorial support to assist with this.
