Understanding Children with Social, Emotional, Behavioural, Communication and Mental Health Difficulties

You consider the challenges and rewards in understanding and working with children with social, emotional, behavioural, communication and mental health difficulties. You examine origins, symptoms, signs and treatments, and develop strategies for easing tension and suffering in challenging situations. You learn about special educational needs and disability and working with children with social and emotional difficulties, behavioural difficulties, mental health difficulties, and communication difficulties. You learn how to manage and support these difficulties at home and in the classroom.

How you are assessed

You will complete a pre-set case study, which will be provided for you, which will focus upon an identified area of difficulty. You will demonstrate via the completion of this how children could be managed and supported both at home and in the classroom. You will be given tutorial support to assist with this.
