Working in DBT lets you focus on supporting people to change unhelpful patterns of behaviour by increasing their emotional and cognitive regulation.

In this module you explore the skills and techniques for working with these patients and those with personality disorders.

  • Limited HEENE-funded places are available for eligible applicants (you must check this with admissions before applying).
  • Standard University fee applies once all funded places have been allocated.

You study the model of dialectical behavior therapy, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness, among other relevant issues.

This award is delivered at the Centre for Professional and Executive Development, Darlington campus.

How you learn

You learn through workshops, role-play activities, video demonstrations and self-directed learning. Your learning is enhanced through the virtual learning environment via virtual discussions and blogs.

How you are assessed

You are assessed using video recorded role play and client-based scenarios to develop a portfolio of competencies.

Career opportunities

On completion of this award you will be familiar with the knowledge and skills required to work, confidently, with individuals with personality impairment and other conditions.

Entry requirements

You must have registration with a recognised professional body within the health and social care fields.
