Further information

The award explores two fundamental areas of practice - person-centred approaches to care and value-based practice. The award enables you to work in a respectful and sensitive manner with the different values and perspectives present in practice (Woodbridge and Fulford, 2004 p7). This award provides opportunities for you to discuss and explore your experiences and, by working with fellow students, to consider ways in which practice can be improved.

Learning is facilitated by examining the concepts and the evidence base of facilitating person centred, value-based approaches to care. You are encouraged to explore your own practice experiences, and by examining these consider the evidence base underpinning your practice. You study alongside fellow students, exploring and sharing together to enrich the learning process. Material is placed on e-learning@tees to facilitate and enhance learning. You are required to participate in activities and pre-reading materials on e-learning@tees.
You examine the concept of value based practice using a person-centred approach relevant to your field of practice and experiences of facilitating care.

This is award is delivered at Teesside University's main campus over a 15-week period.

How you learn

You are assessed summatively - assessment will be a written 4,000-word assignment normally in week 15 of the award. There is a formative assessment provided in week 7 of the award of a group presentation. You are provided with formative feedback following this in preparation for your summative assessment at the end of the award.
