The award is delivered over eight days in two blocks – one five day block, followed by one three day block five months later, which allows time for consolidation of knowledge and application to practice. In these blocks you cover patient assessment, arrhythmia management, electrophysiology management, interventions and investigations. This award is supported by the British Heart Foundation.

We help you, as a health care professional to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills enabling you to care holistically and competently for patients with arrhythmias and those at risk of developing arrhythmias, incorporating all aspects of patient assessment, investigations, control, holistic care and management.

How you learn

Assessment for this award is in two summative parts.

  • Part 1 is a 3,000 word assignment (mock article).
  • Part two is a multi stationed observed structured clinical examination (OSCE). You undertake the OSCE at the end of the second three day block of study

Entry requirements

Applicants should:

  •  Have 120 credits at degree level or equivalent
  • Be qualified health care professional, currently practising and working with critically ill patients or within a cardiac arrhythmia environment

If you are funded for this award by the British Heart Foundation you need to have been working in a specialised setting for three years.
