This programme is designed for those who want to enter, or to develop, a career in management. You examine the functional building blocks of management – marketing, finance, people management and information technology – in the context of the contemporary business environment.

What you study

You begin by examining contemporary business in its current environmental context and go on to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the functional building blocks of management education.

How you learn

You learn through a variety of methods both in the classroom and also in workshops. The lectures/workshops are designed to enable you to apply the theoretical approaches you have learned to practical situations relevant to business’s needs today.

How you are assessed

Assessment is based around essays and reports that normally draw upon your experience in your workplace or organisations with which you are familiar.

Professional accreditation

Chartered Management Institute Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates will be guaranteed the offer of Associate Member (ACMI) status or, with three years’ managerial experience, full Member (MCMI) status from the Chartered Management Institute.

Career opportunities

The Certificate provides an entrance route to the study of management at postgraduate level, offering participants the flexibility of either progression to master's programmes or graduation at Certificate level.

Entry requirements

The normal entry requirement is an honours degree or an equivalent professional qualification. Applicants without a degree but with significant appropriate work experience may be eligible.
