Quality teaching

BCS Educational Affiliate The high quality of computing courses at Teesside has been recognised by a national review undertaken by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. A report by the British Computer Society (BCS) highlighted 'the positive approach to course delivery, innovation and student support'.

Supportive study

An Open Access Student Information Service provides a resource centre to support you throughout your studies. Your personal tutor gives advice and support on personal and academic issues, and provides guidance on study methods and course options. A dedicated IT Help Desk provides support for Mac, PC and UNIX systems.

First-class facilities

You have access to 30 networked media application laboratories and studios equipped to industry standards and running the latest software. Dedicated facilities are provided for systems analysis, computer networks, programming in a wide range of languages, artificial intelligence, modelling and visual programming, human computer interaction, e-commerce and .net environments, as well as supporting the application areas of animation, games, multimedia and graphics.

Research and enterprise

Our research covers three broad themes: software engineering, virtual worlds and human computer interactions. The theme of interaction between people and the computer is in turn broken down into four research areas: interactive systems, special needs, multimedia education and community informatics. These areas work together to investigate the effects that computer technology has on the activities and behaviour of individuals, groups and communities.
