If you are a professional dance practitioner looking to develop your art form skills, progress to a leadership and management role in the dance sector, or strike out on your own, this is the course for you. You consider creative practice and technology, advanced facilitation, research methods and teaching practice, and complete a major 60 credit individual project.
What you study
The MA Professional Dance Practice is a postgraduate framework which has been developed with and for those working in the dance sector as a workforce development course (note that it is not a traditional full-time course). It is made up of seven stand alone modules plus a 60 credit Major Individual Project.
How you learn
For maximum flexibility the courses are offered through a series of one-day seminar/workshops which conclude in individual project work and/or presentations.
How you are assessed
You are assessed in relation to standard postgraduate level processes.
Career opportunities
This workforce development programme is ideal for those who are working in a professional capacity – either in a dance or arts organisation – or are running their own professional dance practice. It is equally suited to those who are planning to work professionally in either of these areas. You develop existing skills while learning new ones which will feed directly into your professional dance practices and projects. This enables you to work across a wide range of areas, including experimental choreography, performance, health and well-being, or in educational contexts.
Entry requirements
While a degree is not necessary, you will ideally be running your own professional dance practice and should be able to demonstrate an ability to complete and benefit from the course.
