Computer imagery is everywhere, from box office movies such as Avatar and Toy Story 3 through to a variety of uses in broadcast television and corporate film production, not forgetting games, the web and even your phone. Computer animators construct the vivid, often larger-than-life, virtual worlds which entertain, enthral and fascinate us. The computer animator brings objects and scenery to life with computer modelling and animation software.
At Teesside we offer an in-depth training in CGI creation, whether you dream of creating effects for drama such as Dr Who, television idents , commercials and documentaries, virtual film sets and props for the big screen or 3D animation for the web.
As well as teaching the basics of 3D modelling and animation, we also develop your CG production skills and problem-solving ability so that you become self-sufficient independent learners able to keep up with the rapid changes in CGI technology and production.
If you would like to combine art and technology, in either 3D or 2D, learn skills which will enable you to work in a wide variety of exciting and satisfying jobs in the world of computer graphics. Then this is the course for you.
Particular emphasis is placed on:
- 2D and 3D animation
- concept creation
- TV and film industry production skills
- advanced CG techniques
- professional studio practice.
With options in character animation, effects and technical animation.

How you are assessed
Assessment for all modules will be in the form of practical projects, which you work on throughout the year.
Professional accreditation
The Skillset accreditation scheme has been created with the games and animation industry to signpost courses which fulfil professional criteria and prepare students for the world of work.
