You will gain an essential introduction to the study of history by examining the rapid social changes affecting Britain in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. You will study the history of politics, culture and society and become aware of key concepts that historians use to understand the past, including class, gender and ethnicity. You will also develop your skills in analysing different types of primary sources, including newspapers, parliamentary papers, government reports, memoirs, speeches and letters.
