Modules offered may vary.
You will look at the various parts of the criminal justice system - police, courts, the National Offender Management Service (probation and prisons). You will study how they have developed - the impact of social change and shifting attitudes to crime and disorder, and how these have impacted on the various parts of the system. You will look at the underlying perceptions about criminal groups, why we punish and how we develop crime prevention strategies. You will be encouraged to engage with contemporary theories relating to crime justice and punishment.
