This module will give you an introduction to the sociological study of education. You will examine the various perspectives and theories which have developed through analysing schooling and adult education. The module explores the relationship that systems of education have with other social institutions. In particular it asks whether changing patterns of family life, employment and community influences the structure of education and how young and older people experience education.
