Modules offered may vary.

This module familiarises you with analysis of the stability of natural and manmade structures and infrastructure and the use of temporary repairs in emergency situations.

We go on to identification and remediation techniques of contaminated land in urban and rural environments.

You develop your abilities in the collection, assessment and evaluation of data for the effective provision of temporary repairs and remedial measures. You learn to apply fundamental principles to the design, construction and operation of temporary repairs and remedial measures.

You also develop a working knowledge of the underlying techniques for identifying contaminated land and the methods used in the remediation process when connected to the development of the land for commercial, residential and recreational development.

In lectures we outline the concepts and techniques which are augmented with class discussions of case studies. You use tutorials and assignments to gain skills in applying the techniques to designs. During the tutorial sessions we can give you further assistance to direct your further study.

At the end of the module you will be able to analyse technical problems in a variety of scenarios and apply appropriate techniques to provide temporary and permanent solutions.
