Full time and part time
English Studies degrees can be studied both full time and part time. The new fast track part time English Studies degree allows you to complete your degree in four years, studying alongside full time students.
Teesside culture
The University campus is at the heart of a developing cultural quarter in the centre of Middlesbrough.
The School hosts the Northern Region Film and Television Archive that is being developed as a major film conservation and research centre.
The University cinema screens a diverse programme including kino, independent and foreign language films.
Students are active in Teesside's lively literary scene. The Verb Garden in Middlesbrough, a spoken word performance platform for new and established writers, was founded by a former Teesside English student.
Performers have included Tony Harrison, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Jackie Kay and Liz Lochhead.
