Why study history at Teesside?
Margaret Hems, History Section leader says: 'I have been asked in the past: why study at Teesside? Top of the list is probably the variety of subjects you can study and the wide range of modules. An external examiner commented that students at Teesside are offered an intriguing range of subjects.'
80% of history is in the top three grades for research quality in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise including 10% considered world-leading and 40% internationally excellent.
'We also pride ourselves on being student-centred - we have friendly and approachable staff who will give you lots of support and advice. As a student you will be assigned a progress tutor who will work with you throughout your time here. Our graduates frequently praise the friendly atmosphere of the history section.'
'Our results are good too! Two thirds of our undergraduate students graduate with a first or 2.1 degree and we have a very good success rate amongst our mature students. What’s more, we are so eager to see our undergraduates fulfil their potential that we offer a tailor-made career programme during the second year. And we continue to offer that support after graduation. We are always pleased to see our students once they have moved on in their lives. After all, our former students are our best ambassadors.'
