BA (Hons) Computer Games Design

What are you doing now?

In my final year I won at the Vis Awards, a competition run by the School of Computing that showcases students’ work, in the computer games design category. I gained a placement at Ubisoft Reflections where I am currently working as a junior games designer. It’s an excellent working environment with like minded gamers wanting to make games. It has long hours and hard work, but it’s part and parcel of the job.

What did you enjoy about the course?

I enjoyed the variety of modules available and talking to the experienced tutors who had worked on games I knew from my youth.

Would you recommend Teesside and your course?

I would recommend my course based on the experience of the tutors who are extremely knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. The Animex festival in February is an excellent way to network with people from local and international games studios – I had met several of the people I am now working with. I would also recommend the University itself, based on the facilities available to all students.
