Graduated with honours in visualisation, class of 2002

‘I got a fantastic kick-start to my career by studying at Teesside.’

I got a job as a developer at Lionhead Studios immediately after graduating – it’s a top UK games company. It was a great experience and I learned a lot, working on titles like The Movies and Fable. After six years I decided to try my hand in the finance industry, moving to the City to join the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. After getting to grips with life in finance I moved on to Riskcare, a consultancy where I work with clients such as the Royal Bank of Scotland, Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley.

Teesside is well established in the field of computer graphics and visualisation. It offered the best course in the field I was interested in – the mixture of creative and technical modules worked really well for me. In fact it was the perfect choice. The tutors were really knowledgeable, up to date with the latest trends and easy to talk to.

And I had my job application accepted at Lionhead Studios before I’d even finished my last term – that says it all really. I found the work placement year extremely helpful in focusing on what I wanted to do after my course.

The social life in Middlesbrough was fantastic and having the campus so close to the town made going out and making friends really easy. And, coming from London, going out for a drink was so much cheaper than I was used to! I also really enjoyed having some great countryside so close by – taking time out to visit places like Roseberry Topping was a great way to clear the mind and get away from it all.

I’d highly recommend Teesside and my course – I got a fantastic kick-start to my career by studying there. The teaching staff and support are great – it’s likely to be even better now with the new buildings an
