Skillset Media Academy

We are one of only a small group of Skillset Media Academies and our BA (Hons) Computer Animation and BSc (Hons) Computer Games are accredited Skillset programmes.

Animex

Our annual international festival of animation and computer games provides inspiration for animation and games students from around the world giving you the chance to meet top practitioners face-to-face. Artists from Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Framestore, Double Negative, Valve, LucasArts and Ubisoft are just a few of the studios who have been represented at Animex in the past.

Our state-of-the-art facilities are outstanding and include:

  • world-class resources with industry-standard animation, visual effects and game development software and hardware
  • fully equipped motion capture studio
  • professional sound stage with motion control cameras and green screen facilities
  • sound recording studios
  • brand new purpose-built buildings with life drawing studios, traditional animation studios and other facilities for animation, visual effects and games production.

Research

Our research is recognised as excellent. Our Digital Futures Institute (DFI) is host to a range of research activities in computing and aims to achieve a balance between generic research topics, mostly in programming research, and the development of new technologies for user-centred systems, such as multimodal interfaces, accessibility and new interactive media.
