About ExpoTees Conference
Our 2018 ExpoTees conference focuses on cybersecurity. Cyber-attacks can affect even the most resilient of organisations, so it is imperative to understand the best methods for protecting your assets and ensuring regulatory compliance. This year's conference will give you the opportunity to hear from and communicate with experts in cybersecurity. During the day you will also be able to find out more about how to collaborate with Teesside University to access staff expertise and knowledge, and identify talented students and graduates.
This year our line-up of speakers includes a world-record holding public speaker and cybersecurity advisor, specialist Police representation and Microsoft.

||Session 4 - Securing Public Cloud Environments - Hakan Onur, Microsoft
The concept of having datacentres has made us all focus on hardware and virtual machines; and from a security perspective the focus has been around securing those two important building blocks. Moving away from datacentres into the public cloud brings its own advantages as well as new challenges, especially from a security perspective.
In this session Hakan focusses on securing public cloud environments and talks about how the security principles we had adopted on-premises has changed (or not) when we move into the cloud-first world.
||Sessions 5 and 6 - GDPR - A People Perspective - Eddie Buck, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SHR International Group Ltd and Ian Elcoate, Managing Director of Tad Web Solutions
Is your organisation ready for the switch from the Data Protection Act to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May? Eddie takes you through key points to consider, including information asset register, consent and privacy notices, GDPR compliant policies and procedures, handling data breaches, GDPR training expectations and sanctions for non-compliance. He also considers questions such as do I need a Data Protection Officer?
Ian looks at several key areas on ensuring your storage and use of data is GDPR compliant; what is (and what is not) personal data, collecting, storing and processing data, individual rights and what to do in case of a breach. There are some short exercises to help you identify the important how, who, what, where and why questions that will help organisations be compliant without being overburdened.
