About Justin Greetham

Justin sees animation as a unique medium that provides tools and techniques to drive ideas in either a personal or political direction.

After university Justin worked for Lost in Space, a special effects boutique in London, alongside a sculptor, animator, video artist, photographer and programmer. They worked on the launch of the National Lottery, and their Lucozade campaign won Best TV Commercial at the London Effects and Animation Festival. After two years as Director of New Media at Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, USA, he moved back with his wife to the North of England and took up a lecturing role at Teesside.

Justin contributes to the Year 1 History of Moving Pictures module, and the Live Action and Studio Practice which exposes students to the production workflow of making professional animations. Students use our high-definition green screen and motion caption facilities, and do editing and flow work.

Enterprise interest and activities

Justin co-ordinates the Animex Awards for student animation from all over the world, and the Vis Awards which provide an opportunity for Teesside students to win an internship. Both awards encourage students to think competitively, and engage with festivals and external events.
