About Myriam Mallet
Myriam’s teaching concentrates on sharing with students her experience of teamwork and project management around the world. After two years studying a mechanical engineering degree in her hometown of Clermont-Ferrand, France, Myriam transferred into the final year of a BSc (Hons) International Business Information Technology at Teesside. She went on to complete a one-year placement at ICI, then returned to Teesside to study a master’s in multimedia applications, centring on multimedia as a marketing tool. Myriam then returned to ICI, developing multimedia applications to promote the consultants within its Knowledge Management Group. Her role moved from development into consultancy, promoting multimedia as a technology that could be useful for businesses. After four years within the Knowledge Management Group, Myriam joined Teesside University as a multimedia lecturer.
Myriam concentrates on the project management, consultancy and teamwork aspects of working on multimedia projects. Students work on live projects with real clients – in fact student teams compete against each other for work as in industry. It keeps the momentum going and it reflects real life.
Myriam is working on a PhD examining constructivism in learning and teaching: how students can build their own knowledge, rather than have it passed on.
