Visiting international students

(including Erasmus and Leonardo funded students)

Learning agreement

Before arriving you must write a learning agreement which states the aims and outcomes they wish to achieve.

Travel and personal insurance

We advise you to take out your own insurance or that offered through your home institution.

Medical declaration

All students need to provide a medical declaration before undertaking a placement in the UK. You need written evidence (in English) of your health status.

Criminal records declaration

All students undergo a police check before being allowed a placement in the UK. You need to provide written evidence (in English) from an authorised body indicating any convictions or offences committed. If you don't have any convictions we still require written evidence from an authorised body to verify this.

Transcript of training

We require written evidence (in English) signed by your tutor or institution which outlines your current programme and how much you have completed.

Role of the Academic Link Tutor

The Academic Link Tutor provides support while you are on placement. The tutor will discuss your learning needs and review your learning agreement to check the outcomes are achievable.

The International Student Co-ordinator for the School of Health & Social Care provides information and support to the Academic Link Tutor and students. The Co-ordinator is a link between the academic, the student, and supportive networks in the wider University.

Accommodation

Accommodation can usually be arranged by us - it is often possible to live on an NHS Trust site near your placement.
