About Faizan Ahmad

Dr. Faizan Ahmad joined Teesside University as Senior Lecturer of Chemical Engineering in August 2015. Before joining Teesside University, he has teaching and research experience of 8 years working at different universities and organizations in Pakistan, Malaysia, Korea and Germany. He has completed his post doctoral training from Yeungnam University Korea, PhD from University Technology Petronas Malaysia, MSc from Otto-von Guericke University Magdeburg Germany, and BSc from University of the Punjab Pakistan, all in chemical engineering.

During his academic career, Faizan has taught fundamental chemical engineering courses like “Chemical Process Design” “Instrumentation and Process Control”, “Particulate Technology”, and “Chemical Process Principles” to undergraduate, masters and PhD students.

Faizan has worked on different industrial and research projects like “Hybrid process of membrane and thermally coupled distillation column” and “Removal of CO2 from natural gas using hollow fiber membrane process”. In the last five years, his research has contributed more than 20 peer review articles published in the renowned journals such as Journal of Membrane Science, Computer and Chemical Engineering and Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. 

As a part of his research, "Hollow fiber membrane performance prediction program (HFM3P)" was developed that has been filed for a patent. In addition, the research work has been presented in more than 15 international conferences and 3 invention exhibitions while receiving two gold medals and one silver medal.

Enterprise interest and activities

Faizan's enterprise interest focus on the commercialization of performance evaluation model/program to evaluate the performance of hollow fiber membrane. He is keen to collaborate with process industries within his research interests and expertise.
