Why did you apply to be a student ambassador?

I applied to the ambassador programme to learn new skills, gain experience of working in a range of areas, develop my CV and grow as an individual. I also wanted a job that was flexible and that I could fit around my academic timetable.

What kind of things do you get involved in?

I get involved in loads of things, from working at open days to delivering lessons in local schools. My favourite jobs so far have been the summer school and a dance event that we held in the Town Hall. The summer school is a fantastic event where college students travel from around the UK to stay in Teesside University accommodation, take part in academic sessions and attend social events in the evenings. It is just as much fun for us as it is for them! We are able to get involved with bowling, a pub quiz, a party, a BBQ and this year we went to Tees Barrage to use the air trail and to do water sports. At the dance event, our role was to help in any way needed, which led to me filling in for a dancer and helping to teach a routine to Year 5 pupils. It really is different every day and so much fun!

Best thing about being an ambassador?

The best part about being an ambassador is the amazing people I work with. I’ve met people from all walks of life and from various backgrounds. I also love that every job is different, so it’s always fun and exciting. It's very rare to find a job that you love and actually look forward to but that is the case with the ambassador role. You are getting paid to have fun with your friends, learn invaluable skills and make a positive difference to young people's lives.

What would you say to someone thinking about signing up to be an ambassador?

If you are thinking about applying to the ambassador programme, do it! I wish I had applied sooner because it truly is the best job in the world. What have you got to lose?

Best thing about Teesside University?

There are many things I love about Teesside. I love how homely it is, I love how friendly and welcoming everyone is, and I love my role as a student ambassador. Teesside is a fantastic place to live and choosing to study at Teesside University is something your future self will thank you for.
