Careers in criminology
Criminology graduates have gone on to careers in the following organisations:
- National Offender Management Service
- National Probation Service
- Prison Service
- Police Service
- Home Office
- Youth Justice Board
- Customs and Excise
- campaigning organisations
- statutory and voluntary agencies
- social care agencies
As a Teesside criminology graduate, you will develop a range of transferable skills such as:
- research and information gathering, evaluating data and research evidence
- analysis and critical evaluation and problem solving.
- working with people, negotiating and management skills
- communication and influencing skills.
Criminology graduates are primarily social scientists. Nationwide, about two thirds of graduates go into full-time employment while most of the rest go on to postgraduate study.
But a Teesside criminology degree provides an excellent academic background for a variety of stimulating careers, both in specific criminal justice agencies and in a wider variety of voluntary and statutory organisations.
