Emma Martin’s research interests are gender and policing, policing and education, the development of policing, and comparative studies in policing.

Emma’s international research and development includes working on an England-Africa Partnership in Higher Education (EAP) (2007-08). This project is capacity building for degree level initial police training in Rwanda. It is a mentoring relationship between staff at Teesside University, the Kigali Institute of Education, the National University of Rwanda and the Rwandan Police. It is funded by the British Council.
