'I’ll never forget Teesside'
Why did you decide to study at Teesside?
I was born in Sudan but went to an international boarding school in Kenya. I heard about Teesside and I thought it looked like it offered the best of everything – exactly the right degree I wanted and located in a fantastic part of the UK.
How have you found your time here?
To me, the North East of England is a land of huge opportunity. There are so many things here that students take for granted – a first-rate education, awesome nights out and good friends. There is lots to get involved with and everything’s close at hand.
I first stayed in University accommodation in King Edward’s Square – it was just great. I worked in the Students’ Union which was a really good start to making new friends. Then I became a course representative for students on the second year of the Law degree. These things together made it an amazing experience at Teesside.
And what’s next for you
My ambition is to become a barrister working with the United Nations or the European Court of Human Rights. I’m fascinated by the issue of human and civil rights violations. The careers advisers here have been exceptional with their guidance. The University has certainly given me a firm foundation.
I’ll never forget Teesside. It’s given me the building blocks for my career.
