Technical masterclass topics

To be a great manager, you must have an extensive set of skills – from planning and delegation to communication and motivation. Because the skill set is so wide, it's tempting to build skills in the areas of management that you're already comfortable with. But, for your long-term success, it's wise to analyse your skills in all areas of management – and then to challenge yourself to improve in all of these areas.

Our masterclasses have been designed to help you and your organisation to develop business capability and enhance key areas of business management in a new and powerful way. They provide a wide range of benefits:

  • grow the business focused capabilities of your managers
  • introduce key areas of business management through a proven combination of commercially experienced academic staff and external experts
  • encourage intra and inter business discussion and problem solving via presentations, facilitated group discussion, topic interpretations, case study, project work and action learning groups
  • a company VIP invitation to our regular Teesside University Business School events
  • develop new contacts and networks
  • stimulate broader supply chain interaction and understanding
  • innovatively approach business challenges.

Masterclasses can be delivered at your premises or at Teesside University.

Masterclass structure

  • each masterclass starts with some group work as new delegates with different experiences and expectations are introduced
  • the topic area is introduced by an expert (either from Teesside University or one of our external practitioner partners) and explored from both academic and practical perspectives using a range of methods including presentations, facilitated group discussion, topic interpretations, case studies, project work and action learning
  • delegates then define a work-based project area and investigate opportunities to improve practice in the work place
  • each delegate will leave the masterclass with a clear action plan to help them to take the learning from the day back to their role
  • in the final masterclass, delegates generate measurable business action plans that tackle the key issues from across your organisation.

Kathryn Harper, Learning and Development Manager, SABIC
