About Lesley Mulcahy

Lesley's background includes both public and private sector experience, ranging from major multinationals to SMEs, where she took a number of roles including Product Manager for the North Eastern Co-op, Marketing Manager for Telewest Communications, and PR & Business Consultant to The Women’s Refuge and Search charities in Hartlepool. She also has extensive experience in business consultancy, both within the public and private sectors, and is a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Here at Teesside University , Lesley has designed, delivered and led degree programmes around the areas of Marketing, PR, Retailing and Leadership & Management, in addition to making significant contributions to other programmes at both School and University level. She was programme leader for the award-winning NECC (North East Chamber of Commerce) FdA Leadership & Management programme, the BA (Hons) Leadership & Management (Top-up) programme and all MBA derivatives and until recently, MSc Marketing Management. She has extensive experience of working collaboratively with other local partner colleges and local businesses, and has been an external external examiner at Sunderland University and a school governor in Hartlepool for the LEA.

She has always played an active role in Learning and Teaching and makes significant contributions to the learning experiences of students. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is currently in the process of applying for the status of University Teaching Fellow. Her interests include all elements of educational practice especially around inclusion, widening participation, enterprise and marketing , collaborative working and blended learning approaches.

Lesley is currently working  on the development of Teesside Marketing Clinic which will be a free service, offering marketing support to small SMEs, Sole traders and Social enterprises, in the Tees Valley Area.  The venture is supported by the CIM and some of its members who are acting as mentors.
