Are you a digital media or technology specialist with a business idea or research project? If you have an innovative product or intellectual property to take to market - we're here to help.

Our DigitalCity Fellowships Scheme offers entrepreneurs and innovators in these sectors the chance to explore their ideas.

It's coordinated by the Institute of Digital Innovation and is part of the DigitalCity project facilitated by the University, Middlesbrough Council and One North East.

There are three fellowship awards:

  • Junior Fellowship - for basic idea or skill development: £500.
  • Innovation Fellowship - individuals or teams with a strong idea in new technology - projects are expected to lead to creation of a new business: £4,000 per person.
  • Creative Fellowship - strictly team projects working on a pre-proof of concept to develop new products - projects are expected to lead to creation of a new business: £4,000 per person.

Are you eligible?

Fellowships are available to individuals and teams with an original project idea who haven't previously been awarded a fellowship. You must be over 18 and live in the North East. A proportion of work must be undertaken in the IDI building.
