Aenne Hussmann came to Teesside from Germany as a visiting student and enjoyed it so much, she stayed to complete her undergraduate and masters’ degrees.
MSc Marketing Management
What brought you to Teesside?
When I was in Germany somebody I knew recommended Teesside and said it was a great University. I originally came here as a visiting student but enjoyed it so much that I stayed to complete my BA (Hons) Business Management and then went on to study an MSc Marketing Management. It was a great experience being a student here – the University is fantastic and the staff and students are so friendly.
How did you find the experience of living and studying in a different country?
I did not know what to expect when I came here but the fact I have not returned home says it all – it has been an amazing experience. I love how everything is on one campus and the facilities are great. I had so much support, whatever question I had, there was always somebody to give me an answer – people genuinely care and they do their best to make you feel welcome.
What have you been doing since you graduated?
I was very fortunate to gain a position as a Research Assistant in the Teesside University Business School. The post is for one year and I have been looking at ways to improve the student experience for both home and international students – bringing ideas together to enhance the overall learning experience. It’s been great to stay on at the University and use some of my experiences to help others. I have also been doing some work as a Marketing Assistant for Perry Process Equipment, assisting the Sales Manager in the German speaking markets.
Would you recommend studying abroad?
Definitely – I think studying abroad is extremely important and helps you develop, both academically and as a person. It provides opportunities and gives you a different perspective on things. I would recommend Teesside to other international students who have a desire to study abroad.
