Teesside in top two modern universities

20 January 2010

Teesside University is one of the UK’s top two modern universities, according to a national student survey, which ranks everything from teaching quality to social life.

The Student Experience Survey, commissioned by The Times Higher Education magazine, collated responses from full-time undergraduates at 104 UK higher education institutions.

The survey, conducted by Opinionpanel, aims to show which universities offer the best all-round student experience.

Teesside was ranked in the top 30 UK higher education institutions nationally, and second among the modern universities.

Teesside’s top 30 placing follows its double accolades from the Times Higher in October, when it was awarded the prestigious award of University of the Year and also received the Outstanding Employer Engagement Initiative Award.

The students themselves selected the attributes that they felt most important to them, resulting in 22 diverse categories.

Teesside University scored highly for:

>centralised and convenient facilities >good library and library opening hours >I would recommend my University to a friend >helpful and interested staff >good Students’ Union.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Henderson said: 'I am very pleased to see yet more evidence of the quality of student life here at Teesside.

'We set out to provide our students with the best possible experience and it is very encouraging to see that the environment we provide and the efforts of all of our staff continue to be recognised by our students.'
