Jeff is aiming to complete 10 marathons in 10 days, starting from 21 March, to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Hartlepool-born Jeff will start his challenge in the North East, beginning at Hartlepool United’s Victoria Park stadium and passing through Middlesbrough on the opening day.

The challenge will finish on 30 March, when he will arrive at Wembley Stadium.

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Teesside University Professor Paul Croney said: 'Jeff Stelling is both a friend and an honorary graduate of Teesside University and we wish him all the very best as he embarks on this charity challenge.

'It is a fantastic cause and we fully support his efforts.'

Jeff is best known for his role as the anchor for Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday.

He started his career as a journalist at the Hartlepool Mail after leaving school, before working as a Middlesbrough FC reporter at BBC Tees.

He spent time as a sports reader for the likes of Channel 4, before moving to Sky in 1992.

Jeff became a Doctor of Professional Studies in November 2007, receiving his honorary degree from Teesside University.

His epic challenge will see him complete a total of 262 miles alongside a select band of supporters of the Prostate Cancer UK charity ‘Men Utd’.

Jeff will also be supported by family and friends, including Soccer Saturday pundits Matt Le Tissier, Chris Kamara, Paul Merson and Charlie Nicholas.
