Clive Dunning

I came here as a mature student, and studying at Teesside were some of the happiest days of my life. I enjoyed all aspects of student life and I met people who are friends to this day. As a mature student, I particularly enjoyed the fact that there were lots of students of my age range studying at the campus. However I also found it extremely easy to get on with the younger students. After graduating in 1998, I worked as a Further Education lecturer, teaching English. I have always been a quiz enthusiast, and enjoyed watching Mastermind, and have a good all round general knowledge, so I thought I would give it a go. I did not even expect to get on to the programme, let alone win it. My specialist subjects were Blackadder, John Lennon, and in the final the life and poetry of Philip Larkin. As somebody who loves quizzes, winning Mastermind is the ultimate accolade. I put my success down to being an avid reader and having a great memory. Now I am setting up a personal tuition business. I thoroughly enjoy working with students one to one. It is so rewarding to see their progress and be part of their journey in achieving their goals.
