The Leadership Accelerator Programme has been designed in collaboration with industry partners Lotte Chemical UK, Huntsman Pigments, SABIC UK Petrochemicals and Sembcorp to develop the business skills, knowledge and experience of middle managers and graduates.

The programme begins with you completing an online 360 diagnostic tool, focusing on behaviours that successful leaders and managers display to identify individual development needs. The tool will be tailored to suit the stage at which you are at in your career.
The 360 diagnostic tool is also completed again at the end of the programme to help evaluate your journey.
Each masterclass runs from 9.00am to 5.00pm. These 17 interactive sessions present theoretical concepts which will be explored and applied from both academic and practical perspectives utilising a range of interventions including:
The business improvement workshop provides an opportunity for you to establish a work-based study that may benefit both you and your organisation. The day will provide the foundations for this by exploring the mechanics of establishing a study; achieving the necessary focus; understanding critical thinking; examining models of reflective learning and the use of contextualised language. After the workshop is completed you will continue to work on the project in the workplace.
Throughout the programme you will be encouraged to monitor and reflect on changes in your behaviour, using a mixture of coaching, facilitated action learning sets, receiving support from meeting your company mentor (if applicable) and through the completion of a journal.
Journaling allows you to practise becoming a reflective practitioner and is another way to measure progress against defined markers.

Coaching provides you with an opportunity to grow personally and explore issues in an one-to-one environment. Coaching is a completely confidential process. It can be scheduled at a time convenient to you and centers around the relationship between you and your own personal coach.
What is coaching?
Your coach will help you to develop your own strategy for improving your performance rather than telling you what to do. They will encourage you to learn from your own experiences rather than teaching you the answer, and help you to find your own solutions to the challenges you face rather than dispensing advice.
Coaching works well when managers want to change but are unsure how, or when other learning and development approaches have been ineffective. It is not appropriate when a quick, ready-made solution has been identified that can be met by a training course (although coaching is often the glue that applies this learning to the workplace).

Action learning sets can focus on any issues that arise whilst you are transferring the learning from the development programme to live challenges within your workplace. They can enhance your learning capability to increase the impact of the programme. An action learning 'set' or group is designed so that set members learn through a process of constructive questioning and reflection followed by action. The presenter (issue holder) takes what they have learned back to their workplace - initiating changes and trying new ideas or approaches. The theory behind action learning is that we learn most when we are asking or being asked insightful questions and learning this skill also develops participants' leadership and managerial capabilities. Action learning sets by their nature also allow you to improve your own coaching skills. The facilitator helps your set draw out learning, enables your set to reflect on group process and introduces you to other tools for exploration, analysis and solution generation if required.
Action learning sets have maximum impact when you commit to and attend all four per year. This enables trust to develop to underpin the peer-to-peer learning, which in turn enables real life work challenges to be addressed.
