Teesside top for Mechanical Engineering

13 May 2008

Teesside has been highlighted by The Guardian in its pick of rising stars from its annual University Guide.

The national newspaper’s league table shows Teesside moving from second to first place in the ranking of British universities teaching Mechanical Engineering, with Teesside scoring 10 out of 10 for Value added to students undertaking the degree.

We also gained high marks for satisfaction with teaching and assessment on the course.

The Guardian focuses on Teesside among five rising star universities who topped their own subject league tables. The article highlights that Teesside has overtaken Imperial to become the top place to study Mechanical Engineering in the country.

The Guardian University Guide says: ‘That’s not to suggest Teesside is a better university than Imperial, just that it does what it does rather well.’

The story also says that anyone surprised to find a university outside the Russell Group heading the rankings, hasn’t spent much time in the North-east.
