University Oscars hat-trick for Teesside

Teesside University has scored a hat trick, clinching three top placed Marketing awards at the 20th anniversary HEIST awards.

The organisation HEIST (Higher Education Information Services Trust) was devised in response to the need for specialist marketing, consultancy and research insight in the higher education sector and sets a benchmark for best practice in the University sector. Teesside clinched the following three awards: We are the University of the Year Campaign – Gold Award

This was achieved in recognition of the University’s comprehensive communications campaign for the accolade of University of the Year from the Times Higher Education magazine.

Teesside was awarded this title in October 2009, the first ever modern university to win the accolade. The campaign included congratulations videos featuring staff, students and leading local external figures, news releases, the University’s website and use of social media. Rebranded website Silver Award (Top Place) Teesside University’s website, www.tees.ac.uk, was highlighted for its innovation, ease of navigation and presenting prospective students with all they need to know in a vibrant and dynamic environment. Our Brand: internal communications campaign – Silver Award Teesside was rebranded as Teesside University in 2009, and this award was given in recognition of the way this was communicated to staff, students, stakeholders and the public. Professor Graham Henderson, Teesside University’s Vice-Chancellor, said: 'I never cease to be amazed at the achievements of my colleagues. Their skill and imagination fully deserves this recognition and I am thrilled to share in their success.' Sharon Bimson, Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications in the University’s Department for Marketing & Student Recruitment, added: 'These three awards are further proof of the University’s innovation and confidence. These qualities have helped to transform Teesside into an exciting and inspiring university in which to work and study. I am extremely proud of the team, they have worked so hard to achieve this.'
