Manufacturing is the key to region’s prosperity

The future of the North East’s economic prosperity is ‘manufacturing, manufacturing, manufacturing’ say the organisers of a joint event being hosted by the University and the manufacturers’ organisation, EEF.

Leading industrial figures will be speaking at the business growth: the future for manufacturers in the North East event at Wynyard Rooms, Wynyard, on Thursday 14 April.

The event takes place as the Government renews its commitment to support UK manufacturing to help re-balance the economy. Suhail Aslam, Director of Teesside Manufacturing Centre, based at the University, said: ‘Teesside is one of the leading business-facing universities in the UK and we believe that a strong partnership between academia and industry is going to be key to business growth in the future.’ Tony Sarginson, Membership and External Affairs Manager of EEF said: ‘This event will point the way to how manufacturers can work together with university partners and the local enterprise partnerships to drive growth in the economy.’ The keynote speakers at the event include: > Terry Scuoler, Chief Executive Officer of the manufacturers’ organisation, EEF > Stephen Catchpole, Managing Director of Tees Valley Unlimited > Professor Cliff Hardcastle, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise) at Teesside University > Andrew Brown, Operations Director, Exwold Technology Ltd > Craig Billingham, Financial Director, The Fin Machine Company Ltd > Suhail Aslam, Director of the Teesside Manufacturing Centre.
