GTrak on course for Fusion Hive

26 August 2015

A GPS vehicle tracking specialist has become the latest high technology company to sign up for tenancy in Teesside University’s Fusion Hive building.

GTrak Ltd was attracted by the opportunity to work alongside fellow digital technology companies, as well as the availability of high-quality 100 megabyte broadband access.

Located on Stockton’s Northshore and operated by Teesside University, Fusion Hive’s purpose-built, flexible workspace offers the ideal environment for business collaboration. It also gives members access to the University’s significant business networks, expertise and training provision, and the help it provides in sourcing potential funding.

Founded in 2009, GTrak are relocating from Middlesbrough to expand their award-winning GPS Tracking solution and fleet management system which already counts blue chip organisations such as British Airways amongst its clients.

Developed in-house, the GTrak solution enables clients to significantly reduce fleet operational costs whilst increasing productivity and customer service. It is built on web-based software designed to manage fleets of any size and available 24/7 allowing users to access live information.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Meson, commented, 'We have ambitious plans for expansion which do partly depend on the availability of high speed broadband access. Fusion Hive offers us not only this, but also the opportunity to work with other digital-based technology companies in a great environment so we’re really looking forward to relocating in September. The bright open plan offices are just what we’re after whilst the technical back-up from Teesside University is also something we can take advantage of.

'The vehicle tracking market is currently dominated by a few very large manufacturers but, whilst we all offer similar vehicle hardware, we feel our in-house designed software gives us a real advantage.

'The move to Fusion Hive has been a catalyst to re-examine every part of our operation, from development to marketing, and the space and facilities give us a real competitive advantage which we’re planning to use to launch our next phase of company development.'

Laura Woods, Director of The Forge, Teesside University’s new business hub, added, 'GTrak are an ambitious digital company with exciting expansion plans. We are delighted to welcome them to Fusion Hive and I am sure it will provide them with an environment in which they can flourish and take their operation to the next level.'

Fusion Hive is part funded by The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The ERDF’s Competitiveness Programme 2007-13 is bringing over £300m into North East England to support innovation, enterprise and business support. It will help create and safeguard 28,000 new jobs, start 3,000 new businesses and increase the productivity by £1.1bn per annum.

Fusion Hive is transforming the way enterprises operate in the region. More than just an office space, Fusion Hive brings together like-minded tenant organisations and gives them the opportunity to network, share knowledge and capitalise on opportunities for growth.
